2024 Solar Eclipse Event
Join us for a weekend of astronomy and eclipse viewing at Camp Carew on Little Grassy Lake April 6th, 7th, and 8th.
Weather permitting, we will host two nights of educational star viewing culminating in the fantastic total solar eclipse on April 8th.
Each night April 6th and 7th will feature an educational astronomy demonstration featuring naked eye observation of the prominent stars and seasonal constellations moving to observing the night sky with binoculars then zooming in with telescopic views of interesting double stars and deep space objects featuring Orion's Nebula and open star clusters.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars for the observations on the evenings of the 6th and 7th
On Monday, April 8th we plan to view the solar eclipse with a projection telescope and demonstrate how to make pin hole projectors.
If present, we will be able to view sun spots using the projection telescope.
This will be the last total solar eclipse visible in the United States until 2044.
All viewing will depend of weather conditions and the absence of atmospheric obstructions.
Eclipse Event attendees staying overnight at Camp Carew must bring their own bedding.
